My husband and I went to premarital counseling and learned SO much about how we worked together or where we might have challenges, disagree, etc. About 10 years later, it’s interesting to look back on and see how revealing it was- it really helps set the foundation of your marriage.

Our church required premarital concealing… it was more of a few “you are only 18, are you SURE you want to get married” meetings than actual strategies on how to work trough difficult situations or helping us discover where we will work well together or where we may need to work hard to improve our relationship.

This is so great! So many people spend too much time planning the wedding, and not enough time preparing for their marriage! My husband and I did a pre-marital program that included a survey/test, a counselor appointment and also a one day retreat. We now volunteer at the retreat to facilitate the process for other engaged couples. We love it! We’ll be married 4 years in October.
