Figuring Out the Outline For Your Ceremony - Episode 61
Welcome, and thank you for listening! We are so glad you decided to join us today.
In this episode, we will share with you some ideas for outlining your wedding ceremony. From prelude to the recessional, we've got ideas for religious and non-religious ceremonies.
Prelude – Music or solos to start before the ceremony.
Lighting of the Candles- If they are not lit before the guests arrive.
The Processional
Seating of the Parents - The processional music begins with the seating of the honored guests:
- Seating of the Groom's grandmother
- Seating of the Bride's grandmother
- Seating of the Groom's parents
- Seating of the Bride's mother
Bridal Processional Begins -
- Minister and Groom enter usually from stage right. If the Groomsmen are not escorting the Bridesmaids down the aisle to the altar, they also enter together with the Minister and Groom.
- Maid or Matron of Honor enters. If she is being escorted by the Best Man, they enter together.
- Flower Girl and Ring Bearer enter.

Giving Away of the Bride
The Charge to the Couple
Your officiant may take this moment to emphasize the significance of the vows. Also, the pledge to each other.
The Exchange of Vows
Your vows are your promises to each other.
The Ring Exchange
Lighting of the Unity Candle, sand ceremony or other.
The Pronouncement of Marriage
The officiant makes it official (“I now pronounce you husband and wife”).
Christian: Closing Prayer
The Kiss
And now the moment everyone's been waiting for your first kiss as a married couple.
The Closing Remarks
Your officiant wraps things up with a few last words and, for a religious wedding, a blessing.
The Recessional
